BOOKSALE. Now 87,50 euro ((instead of 187,50).As a great travel enthusiast, the painter first discovered Morocco and Tangier in 1911 and 1913 during two explorations, before embarking on a journey to Algiers in 1920, which was to become his second home. Algeria conquered his heart and he returned every year. He visited Tunisia in 1923 and Egypt in 1928. His pictures reflect his discoveries over time. Thanks to his wealthy wife Marcelle Martinet, he could work free from material worries and give rein to his inspiration. In 1941, he purchased his country estate Djenan Sidi Saïd, which offered him an extraordinary range of motifs and colours. 741 paintings are presented in this first book, each accompanied by the following information: Exhibitions, bibliography (complete until the artist's death) and history, followed by a commentary. The comprehensive biography refers to the theme covered in this volume.
